The Goal Keeper of Pakistan’s women Team, Syeda Mahpara, appreciated the SAFF women’s championship, deeming it a valuable learning experience for her team members. Syeda stated that events like these should be frequently held in order to bring back the lost glory of the international sports in Pakistan. She said that the SAFF tournament will hopefully prove to be the first step towards more opportunities for her team.
Syeda Mahpara was happy to have a chance to perform in the SAFF tournament. She was glad that her team got to perform with the international teams like Nepal and India, as broke the cacoon in which the Pakistani team was in and gave them enough exposure to help them grown in their field. The Pakistani team was not able to qualify for the semi-finals, but their spirits were still high, as this result was expected. Instead, Syeda Mahpara was proud to have competed against such trained and experienced teams.
The Pakistani team still needs to develop and train according to the international standards. The lack of experience and exposure has made the growth stagnant. International events like these give a positive thrust towards growth and development. Mahpara has performed well in this tournament and hoped that the SAFF event would be a start to the football events in Pakistan for the football fans in Pakistan.
