Geneva: The World Health Organization has made restrictions on Pakistanis to travel abroad to stop proliferation of polio. The World Health Organization organized a meeting in Geneva to overcome the polio disease as it is growing all over the world whereas the meeting was attended by the large numbers of experts and observers from different countries of the world.
During the press conference just after the meeting, Additional Director General of the World Health Organization Dr. Bruce Aylward said Pakistan has been recorded polio cases over the past year more than Afghanistan and Nigeria. Due to which it is essential to made restrictions on the Pakistani citizens for travelling abroad just to stop the prevention of polio disease in all over the world. Dr. Bruce said due to the increase of polio disease, Pakistan is now among those countries whose citizens must have to drink polio vaccine before travelling abroad, at least four weeks and more than a year before. I n case of traveling in emergency, Pakistani travellers must have to drink polio vaccine at the beginning of their trip.
Dr. Bruce further added that Pakistani passengers must have to obtain verification certificate for the polio vaccine verification. Syria and Cameroon will be the same type of restrictions just like the Pakistani citizens. Initially restrictions have been imposed for 3 months and after a period the situation will be reviewed again from which it will be decided to remove restrictions or not.
Federal Minister for Special Health Saira Afzal Tarar said the problems which are facing by the Pakistani cannot be compare to any other country. In 2014, polio cases coming to the majority of the South and North Waziristan as the current government has made efforts to overcome polio.
