Karachi: In a literature conference based on freedom of expression, Poet Sarwar Javed stated that literary movements instigated by revolutionary concepts have been able to expand the minds of creators. Pro-development movement was the biggest movement of literature. Some of the greatest masters of literature were created during this era. The novel literary insights have also played a part in the advancement of literature. But unfortunately, the new breed of literary creators has not been able to create a positive effect on the society.
In fact the new trend in literature has promoted chaos and meaninglessness. The conference was presided by Muslim Shameem and was also attended by Saeed-ul-Zafar Siddiqui as the chief guest. Among the speakers were Hayat Rizvi, Qamar Ahmed Siqqiqui, Parveen Haider, Salman Sarwat and Arif Sheikh. Sarwar Javed also added that perspectives usually shapes the conscious personality of a creator and will expand the minds of the writers.
Sarwar Javed also said that the weak minded usually don’t develop their awareness through these perspectives, but rather learn them by heart and thus sacrifice their creativity through these slogans. Muslim Shameem stated that the history of literature laden with various virtues and vices dates back a thousand years. Poets like Meer Taqi Meer deliberately identified the virtues and vices through their poetry and have protested against tyranny and dictators. This tradition survives to this date.
Poet Javed also said that literary works are dependent upon consciousness, awareness and sensitivity, without which creation is incomplete. Saeed ul Zafar also added that ideologies limit literary perceptions and a writer should not be overwhelmed by such ideologies as they will produce substandard literary pieces.
