Karachi: Additional Inspector General of Crime Investigation Department (CID) Iqbal Mehmood will take charge as the acting IG Sindh, after the retirement of Inspector General of Sindh, Shahid Nadeem Baloch.
Iqbal Mehmood is one of the most senior officials and has served twice as the Additional Inspector General of Karachi and also as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at different places. The chief secretary has issued a notice to be effective from Thursday.
Shahid Nadeem Baloch’s retirement came after a 25 year service for the police department. He gave his last speech in the farewell party that was arranged to honour his contributions for the department of police.
In his speech he expressed his concern over the current law and order situation and stated that there was a need to employ all the available resources by the police to bring the situation in control. He further praised the bravery and audacity of the police personnel who had not hesitated to put their lives at risk on duty.
Among the attendees of the ceremony were the Chief Secretary Sindh, Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, Additional Chief Secretary for Home, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, the Additional IG, DIGs, SSPs and others.
