‘It is necessary to destroy all the churches of the region, after Kuwait has imposed restriction on their construction’. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia spoke these words to the delegates of Kuwait, this was reported by some websites and spread on social media. However this news is not true news as the top religious cleric believed to carry on with the decision taken by Kuwait, to ban the construction of the non-Islamic worship places and not destroying of them.
He said that being part of the Arab Peninsula, the Saudi kingdom should follow the same step. It is an old- age rule that Islam, the religion of Muslims should only be allowed to practice in the region.
A Grand Mufti is the top official religious leader in Sunni Muslim Kingdom. He is the head of the Supreme Council of Islamic Ulemas and Standing Committee for Scientific Research and Issuing of Fatwas.
