News pertaining to establishing peace talks with TTP have had been brewing up. Several political leaders have had backed up the stance. But the assassination of the TTP leader Hakimullah Mehsood had shed away all the hopes of entering peace talks with Taliban. Last year, during Zardari regime, Bin Laden incident took place. While this year, killing of the TTP leader a months after the Nawaz government took over poses several questions upon the role of U.S. and the Pakistani government.
Related to the matter, several questions are posed and insight details of the whole scenario are needed. Role of U.S. is highly questionable! It was the American forces, CIA who had landed Pakistan and killed Osama in Abbotabad, the very military base of the country. Death of Hakim ullah is also another attack victim of U.S. strike. What does this all point to?
For an analyst, the conditions are clear. America doesn’t want Pakistan to establish peace in the country, neither in Afghanistan. America for a decade has had been trying to establish its rule in Afghanistan but has failed to do so. Without Pakistan’s assistance, it had been unable to maintain its position there. Through its tactics, U.S. has tried to engage the two countries across Durrand lines in war.
Though, U.S. is retreating back its forces from Afghanistan but under the banner of countering terrorism, it is and would train the Afghans and later use them as weapon to fight against Pakistan, thus deteriorating the country’s peace in future too. So under the disguise of peace talks with moderate forces in Taliban & keeping the region at stake by creating turmoil, America wants to secure her presence in the region in the form of military basis.
U.S. is going through financial crisis. It wants to set itself back from getting into much military expenditure, simultaneously, doesn’t want to lose its control over the two territories, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Therefore US want to shrink into its military basis & want to use Afghan & Pakistani forces to combat with the self-devised turmoil in the region. The turmoil & simultaneous talks with moderate forces in Taliban will create a justification for US to maintain its presence in Af-Pak region.
