Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami will go to Supreme Court (SC) again and file contempt of court case, if the SC verdict regarding voters’ verification and delimitation would not be obeyed. This was stated by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Muhammad Hussain Mehanti in a meeting with Justice (retd) Rasheed A Rizvi at his residence yesterday. During the meeting, Mehanti reiterated that foolproof security should be provided to the polling agents at polling stations, so that they can freely perform their duties.
He further said the election process was being hijacked by MQM for last 25 years through fake electoral lists and besieges the polling stations. “Historic decision of SC will tarnish the tall claims of ‘tappha mafia’, that it has most of the mandate of Karachiites”, Mehanti added.
JI leaders including General Secretary Karachi Naseem Siddiqui, Naib Ameer Barjees Ahmed, Raja Arif Sultan, Dr Abdul Wasay Shakir, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Deputy Secretary Muslim Pervez, Secretary Information Zahid Askari, Nasrullah Shaji and other were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, JI Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mehanti felicitated Rasheed A Rizvi over his success in a case filed by JI on anomalies and irregularities in electoral lists. On the occasion, Mehanti said that Rasheed A Rizvi has successfully contested the case by his intelligence and give the opportunity to the people of city to use their basic right of vote.
Mehanti further added JI has raised issues of pre-poll rigging and anomalies in voters lists done by MQM at every platform and eventually contacted to SC in this regard.
“Implementation on SC verdict in true spirit is necessary for the restoration of lasting peace in Karachi”, he added. Mehanti further said that transparent elections will prove devastating for those who introduced extortion and ‘bori-baand’ culture in city. Mehanti said that JI wants deployment of Army and Rangers personnel on polling booths.
