Islamabad: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that transparent elections are the actual requirement of the constitution on Saturday. Speaking to the meeting of the Judicial Policy Making Committee, the chief justice added that the elections should be hold according to the law prescribed by the constitution. Complete honesty is required to conduct transparent elections, the Chief Justice added.
The Election Commission Of Pakistan (ECP) has been given special powers by the constitution already. Still, the request of getting assistance from any institution will be considered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Chief Justice also informed that the Election Commission has also submitted a request for greater support in the coming elections. Whereas, the Supreme Court has urged an explanation from the ECP before reaching the final decision regarding the request
The Chief Justice added that the judiciary has revived back its power after a long session of struggle and it has gained the public’s trust.
