Karachi: Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad inaugurates Umer Sharif Park named after famous Pakistani comedian here in Clifton Block 2 on Thursday highlighting Government’s friendship with artists. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sindh praised the services of Umer Sharif for the country and said it is the duty of the government to appreciate the work of artists. ‘We have already named several family amusement parks and highways after Ghazal King Mehdi Hasan, Moin Akhtar,’ he said.
Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad told he got the idea of Legend Fund during his visit to Pakistani actor Lehri’s house to inquire about his health. Now, the Legend Trust has been made through which the people belonging to art getting financial aid.
Administrator Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed told media that an amount of 26 million rupees was spent on the construction of Umer Sharif Park stretching over 2.5 acre of land.
It is to mention here that comedy actor Sikandar Sanam is also suffering from deadly Cancer disease, facing financial pressures and fighting for his life on his own without the backing of government. Governor Sindh must pay heed towards the issue, so that comedian gets sufficient treatment in the hospital.
