Lahore: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that the government will protect national interests at any cost; adding that the country is passing through a difficult period all patriotic parties should join hands to safeguard the national sovereignty of the country. She was speaking on the 45th Founding Day of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Lahore, adding that according to the 18th amendment the Command and Control Authority is under the prime minister of the country and not president. She said that the statement regarding the insecurity of nuclear assets is like showing no confidence on the security establishment of the country, which include all the security agencies and armed forces of the country.
She said that statement was given by a political “Pygmy” who tried to enhance his political figure by criticizing President Asif Zardari. She said that the media in the country is very vibrant and it could promote unity in the country through positive work.
Firdous Ashiq Awan said that PPP has strengthened the institutions of the country instead of personalities, adding that prime minister has taken brave decisions regarding the protection of the country.
She said that the country is facing many challenges, adding that PPP strengthen the nuclear program of the country and Benazir Bhutto made the missile program more effective.
