Islamabad: The Parliamentary Committee on National Security summoned the secretaries of foreign affairs and defence in its next meeting regarding the issue of secret memo, while the committee also summoned explanation from the Defence Ministry over the statement of Air Chief Marshal regarding the using of more than 10,000 bombs on the violent hit areas. The meeting of the committee was held on Friday which was summoned on the letter of Senator Ishaq Dar; meanwhile the meeting was chaired by Senator Mian Raza Rabbani and was attended by Senator Wasim Sajjad, Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan, Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad, Senator Afrasiayab Khattak, Senator Abdul Rahim Mandokhel, Munir Khan Orakzai, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Senator Ishaq Dar, and other members.
The committee accepted the issue of memo for review after a long debate; meanwhile talking to media after the meeting Chairman Senator Mian Raza Rabbani has said that the issue of memo is very sensitive and it should not be used for point scoring or political purposes and it is an issue of national security, adding that the secretaries of foreign affairs and defence ministries has been summoned in next meeting of the committee for explanation on the secret memo.
He said that Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Professor Khurshid Ahmad and Sardar Mehtab Khan had written letters to him regarding the statement of Air Chief Marshal on the occasion of Dubai Air Show and the secretary of defence has been directed to explain the statement in next meeting.
He said that during the meeting Israrullah Zehri, Abdul Rahim Mandokhel and Professor Khurshid Ahmad raised the issue of security situation in Balochistan, adding that the committee would conduct a special meeting of the committee on one point agenda to discuss the situation of Balochistan, adding that the related officials would be summoned for briefing.
