Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that there was no threat to the sovereignty of the country, adding that the people and political parties are ready to sacrifice everything for the defense, sovereignty and stability of Pakistan.
Addressing the lawyers of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa in Peshawar on Wednesday, he said Pakistan today is facing multiple challenges and the entire nation irrespective of their political affiliations will collectively surmount them.
The Prime Minister appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the lawyers for rule of law and democracy in the country. He said the PPP workers also stood shoulder to shoulder with the lawyers’ community in its movement launched for the restoration of deposed judges.
He said as promised by Benazir Bhutto, we restored the Chief Justice of Pakistan and other deposed judges.
He said that founding leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Zufiqar Ali Bhutto were also lawyers and they strived hard for the promotion of parliamentary form of system in the country.
He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave the 73 constitution while the present PPP coalition government restored it in its original form. He assured the lawyers’ community that their problems will be resolved on priority basis, adding that the governor KPK and law ministry would solve all the problems of the lawyers’.
He said the rivals of the government consider the policy of reconciliation as weakness but I consider it my strength, adding that I am a journalist and has Masters Degree in Journalism and I was awarded PhD from Turkey, which is real and not fake.
He said that he appreciates positive criticism of media, adding that no other party has the courage to face criticism, adding that the solution of the problems of the country is in upholding the constitution.
Prime Minister Gilani said that all the political parties should rise above from the party affiliation for the safety of the sovereignty of the country.
On the occasion, the prime minister announced establishment of an IT University in Peshawar and fifty million rupees for Peshawar High Court Bar Association.
