Pakistan is ranked at number 12 on a list of the “most failed states”, according to an annual report published in the Foreign Policy* magazine. The report titled “The Failed States Index 2011” has a list of countries in terms of public services to security threats, from refugee flows to poverty, vulnerability. This list helps in indicating country’s performance.
In both 2009 and 2010 Pakistan was at number 10 on this index, whereas in 2008 it was at number nine.
Bangladesh ranks 25 and Sri Lanka is ranked at 29 on the list. China is at 72, whereas Iran is ranked at 35. India ranking is at 76 on the list. These countries are considered to be in the ‘moderate’ zone for vulnerability. The US is ranked at 158, while the UK is on 159.
