Potchefstroom: The pitch of Senwes Park once again proved lucky for the Proteas as they sneak a win with a last ball six and avoid a 3-0 whitewash at home. South Africa won the match but the series was taken by the visitors a game before and ended up with a 2-1 series win.
It was a much needed win for the hosts as they were down from the last two matches against a tough opponent. At the start New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat and managed to post a total of 260 on board, with fifties from middle order batsmen Grant David Eliott, 25 year old Colin Munro and the all-rounder James Franklin.
The start of the run chase was confident until Quinton de Kock was bowled out by a good delivery from Franklin. After the 83 run opening stand none of the South African Batsmen were able to establish a good partnership with Graeme Smith who scored his tenth ODI century. It seemed as if New Zealand will take over the final match as well but the little contributions from other team members made the total chase able and was achieved with a last ball six by Ryan McLaren.
Graeme Smith was given the Player of the match Award for his outstanding century knock.
