Zaid Hamid is a well known Pakistani political commentator and analyst who gained popularity through his fiery and controversial statements on television talk shows. He is the founder of Brass Tacks, a Pakistani Think Tank devoted to the study and analysis of the regional political events and their effect on Pakistan’s security and interests. Zaid Hamid, whose full name is Syed Zaiduzzaman Hamid, was born in Okara Pakistan in 1964 and is the son of Lt.Col. Zaman Haider, who served in the Pakistan Army. Zaid Hamid grew up in Karachi from where he completed his education. He received a Bachelors degree in Computer Systems Engineering from NED University Karachi in 1980.
Zaid Hamid has given many controversial statements on television claiming that RAW, Mossad and CIA are working together to destabilize Pakistan and has highlighted a global conspiracy against Muslims of the world in general.
He also claimed that the 2008 Mumbai attacks were a drama conducted by Indian forces themselves similar to the CIA staging the world trade center attacks. Many journalists and scholars have accused him of spreading fear and panic through his conspiracy theories and have claimed them to be baseless.
