The commissionerate for Afghan Refugees has decided in the meeting to set up a protection unit to monitor the violations against the rights of the refugees, specifically women and children. The commisionerate will also be providing protection under this program. A two day workshop was held to train for refugeeās protection under the supervision of UNHCR and CAR. The program was held for the officials who were undertaking the responsibility of monitoring refugees in 69 refugee camps across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The commissioner of Afghan refugee program, Mohammad Faheem Wazir stated that raising the awareness about the effects of violence against refugee children and their protection from being victimized was the sole objective behind the program. He further added that a strong strategy has been devised by the committee for the protection of the refugees.
A protection unit has been proposes that will monitor the various violations of the rights of the refugees and information pertaining to every incident will be gathered. Immediate assistance will be provided to the refugees to deal with the issue.
