Jeddah: The Royal Army of Saudi Arabia has started to recruit female women in the Army for the very first time in order to make them discharge the security duties. At the initial level, as many as 30 women have been recruited in the Army.
Officials said the Royal Saudi Army has selected 30 women to work in border missions. They said the women soldiers would inspect travelers at the Saudi borders with Bahrain and Qatar.
“This has never been done before,” an official said.
The recruited women would be deployed on passport offices located at border check posts. Earlier, four thousand women have participated in courses regarding the security, law and order under the supervision and approval of Interior Ministry.
