British Prime Minister Winston Churchill is portrayed as a savior who opposed Fascist Germany which was threatening the world peace under the rule of Hitler. But only few know that Churchill himself was responsible for killing 4 million people in Bengal during the famine of 1943.
Previously Churchill claimed that he was unable to send food because ships were not available because of war but new documents reveals that he was unwilling to send food for the dying population of Bengal.
During the famine foods were being sent to other areas and several ships passed Indian Ocean, even other countries offered help but Winston Churchill and other officials of British government ignored the support.
It is believed that the reason for his attitude was racism, once he said “I hate Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion.”
Not only Churchill failed to help the people who were under his rule but he also blamed the dying people for their deaths saying they “breed like rabbits”.
