Various parties and organizations demanded a ban and severe penalty on Geo TV by the government, through the platform of “Tehreek Hurmat-e-Rasool”. Seminars and conferences were conducted in Lahore, Gujranwala, Mirpur, Kotli, and other cities, in which convener of “Tehreek Hurmat-e-Rasool” Maulana Ameer Hamza, Secretary General Qari Yaqoob Sheikh, Maulana Shamshad Salafi, and other speakers expressed their views. They said that no apology on such a heinous blasphemy is acceptable. Moreover, it is time that all segments of the society become united and work for national interests.
Qari Yaqoob Sheikh said that Geo TV is facing the Wrath of Allah due to its crimes. The government should devise strict policies to keep all media channels in line with ethical norms and national interests, for the greater good. There is absolutely no room for such blasphemies in Pakistan, a nation founded solely upon Islamic ideology.
Maulana Ameer Hamza said that on one hand, there is Western media which is openly blaspheming the Prophet (peace be upon him) through caricatures, and on the other, we have Geo TV in Pakistan, which has crossed limits by dishonoring the Prophetic household. This in fact, creates doubts as regards to the agenda of Geo TV.
After defaming the national integrity through an unjustified propaganda against the Armed Forces, Geo TV is tarnishing its image further in front of eighteen crore Pakistanis by dishonoring the family of Prophet. He encouraged the audience to cooperate fully with “Tehreek Hurmat e Rasool” in reviving the Islamic ideology of Pakistan, and in resisting the harms of anti-Islamic content that the media is becoming filled with.
