
UAE launched its first official project to build a Jewish Synagogue in the interfaith compound of Abu Dhabi which will be completed and opened for worshippers by 2022.
The interfaith complex is located in Abu Dhabi which will host a mosque, church and a Jewish synagogue to represent the Abrahamic Family House. The first official announcement for the complex was made when Pope Francis visited the small Middle Eastern country.
The announcement was made despite the fact that the Jewish population in UAE is very small and has a synagogue in Dubai to fulfill their religious practices. Now the government is willing to invest millions of dollars in the multi-faith project to reflect the tolerance in the country.
In recent years Israeli officials have also visited UAE to attend events and conferences. It is also being said that UAE & Israel are having relations at the back door like many other Muslim countries.
The government is not only facilitating places of worship for Abrahamic religions but is also supporting other religions such as Hindu and Sikh community. Recently the foundation for a mega Hindu Temple was also laid down in UAE by organization Baps Swaminarayan Sanstha in which officials from UAE. Currently there are numerous temples for Hindu community in UAE but this will be the first classical stone temple.
