UAE launched its first official project to build a JewishSynagogue in the interfaith compound of Abu Dhabi which will be completed andopened for worshippers by 2022.
The interfaith complex is located in Abu Dhabi which willhost a mosque, church and a Jewish synagogue to represent the Abrahamic FamilyHouse. The first official announcement for the complex was made when PopeFrancis visited the small Middle Eastern country.
The announcement was made despite the fact that the Jewishpopulation in UAE is very small and has a synagogue in Dubai to fulfill theirreligious practices. Now the government is willing to invest millions ofdollars in the multi-faith project to reflect the tolerance in the country.
In recent years Israeli officials have also visited UAE toattend events and conferences. It is also being said that UAE & Israel arehaving relations at the back door like many other Muslim countries.
The government is not only facilitating places of worshipfor Abrahamic religions but is also supporting other religions such as Hinduand Sikh community. Recently the foundation for a mega Hindu Temple was alsolaid down in UAE by organization Baps Swaminarayan Sanstha in which officialsfrom UAE. Currently there are numerous temples for Hindu community in UAE butthis will be the first classical stone temple.
