WASHINGTON: Two American senators have emphasized on Pakistan that Pakistan should increase efforts to punish the culprits who attacked on Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Prize Recipient. Senators Marco Rubio and Barbara Boxer have expressed concerns over the release of eight accused recently.
The two senators has written a letter to the Pakistani Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jelani in which they said that they emphasized on Pakistani government to increase its efforts transparently and in public view to bring the accused, involved in the attack on Malala Yousafzai, to book.
The letter was written on June 29, 2015 and was released to media on Tuesday. Both the senators said that Pakistani officials in April announced after a secret hearing that all the ten accused were found to be involved in the attack on Malala and 25 years imprisonment was declared for them.
They said there was some serious concerns over the transparency shortage of the case and absence of information against the ten accused in the case nonetheless, they appreciated the verdict. They said they are worried as eight of the ten accused were acquitted.
