LAHORE: Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has warned that there is a threat of Paris-style attacks in different cities of Punjab including Lahore. While talking to media concerning security arrangements for second phase of local body election in Punjab, CTD officials said that ISIS could attack in Punjab as it attacked in Paris, adding that there is no threat during the election.
The officials said that social media websites and sensitive places have been kept under surveillance in view of the threat of terrorism in the province. They added that the details would be issued later on suitable time. The officials said that a madrissah has also been sealed in South Punjab in view of security where the students were being trained to use weapons.
Provincial Home Secretary, Major General (r) Azam Khan said that the madrissa that was sealed was affiliated with Laal mosque, Islamabad whose cleric “Maulana Abdul Aziz” has taken the pledge of ISIS. He said that the administration is taking the statements of Maulana Abdul Aziz seriously concerning ISIS and keeping it under surveillance lest ISIS enters the province.
