After successive polls it has become inevitable that Muslims in general demand Islam in governance, rejecting secularism. Nevertheless, still there is an apathy, that do you want a totalitarian state, which will impose Islam on minorities? A state that will rule forcefully? Rejecting this myth is the need of hour, it necessitates not to neglect police democracies around the globe who baton charge doctors, lawyers and teachers alike, detain innocents for no reasons and where majority is devoid of basic rights leave minority.
The Arab world before advent of Islam, wasn’t Arabic, but Islamic governance conquered their hearts because policy of Islam is to win the hearts not colonizations. Islam has given detailed rights for minorities, their rights are fully secured but no one can breach the laws, regardless of religion, so to maintain a healthy society. It is evident from the presence of non-muslim generations and their ancient holy places for thousands of years under Muslim rule. Like when the Jews were persecuted by Christians during the Spanish inquisition of 1492, it was the Islamic State that gave them safe heaven to prosper, their descendants are still in Istanbul. Similarly, Christians stood alongside Muslim armies for countering crusaders. Thomas Arnold writes, “The toleration of the Muhammadan government towards its Christian subjects in Spain and the freedom of intercourse between the adherents of the two religions brought about a certain amount of assimilation in the two communities. Inter-marriages became frequent.”
Non-muslims are the people of covenant and state implements laws related to them with responsibility. They can’t be treated under Patriot Law after 9/11, like holocaust in Europe, like the massacre by Nazis, detention in Guantanamo Bey inhumane jails, massacre of civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, etc and launch of brutal, secular, colonialist dictatorships who torture people for praying in mosques. In Caliphate imprisonment of citizens is illegal without explicit evidences, torture and spying into private lives aren’t allowed. You don’t need CCTV cameras everywhere to stop crimes because citizens are cultured with Islamic thoughts through media and education, environment of society through system preached citizens that they aren’t “free to live” but “responsible for their acts”, that’s the reason why for 600 years of Islamic ruling only 200 thieves were charged of crime.
