ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has summoned details of government plan regarding restoration of Pakistan Railway (PR) and court ordered to register cases against officials of PR involved in corruption and scrape purchase irregularities. The Court has directed to Chairman PR after filing cases against responsible of corruption these cases should be sent to NAB. Court further said that Chairman NAB should take stern action against people involved in mass corruption, adding that occupied land of railways should be evacuated.
Two member bench of Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the Suo Motu notice over non-payment of salaries and pensions to railway employees. Chairman Pakistan Railways Javed Iqbal informed the court that worker’s salaries and pensions will be transferred through banks from December whereas, payments for November will be given from today (Tuesday).
Later, the court adjourned the further hearing of case till November 10.
