The Board of Intermediate Karachi (BIEK) announced results of HSC Part I (Pre-Engineering) shocking the students after which a protest was announced on 18th October 2017 through social media.
Only 11,017 students passed the exams from a total of 30,639 students which is far below than the average passing ratio. According to statistics provided by BIEK 26,588 appeared in the exams last year and 11,894 passed the exams.
The success percentage for last year was 44.7% while this year the success percentage was only 35.9%. Students are raising questions that how passing percentage decreased by 10%?
They are claiming that the corrupt marking and checking system is the main reason of the low passing ratio. TV Channels also shared videos of teachers checking exam copies in their home without reading the content, it is said that they are given just Rs. 17-20 per copy and they don’t properly check the results.
