Karachi: Importance of treating and rehabilitating the stroke patients was inculcated by neurologists in an awareness program. The data shared on the occasion stated around 4 million people the likely victims of strokes every year. Patients who had crossed 45 ages limit and have high blood pressure account 30 % while the latter 70 % for the attack, said the medical practitioners.
With the collaboration of NARF and Pakistan Stroke City, the public awareness program was organized at Najumuddin Auditorium of Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre. Various notable neurologists, medical practitioners spoke on the occasion.
Senior Neurologist, Professor Abdul Wasay, Dr. Khalid Sher, Dr. Abdul Malik, Dr. Nabila Soomro, Dr. Misbahul Aziz and Neuro-physician Professor Muhammad Tariq shared the medical details on the topic. Stroke is said to be the third cause of the deaths resulting in country. Hypersensitiveness is dictated to be the primary reason for the attack.
It was said that if properly diagnosed of the likely stroke, the patient could be saved from serious consequences resulting in heart attack majorly. Exercises and maintaining blood pressure remain the solutions to prevent strokes. 25 % stoke attacks can be reduced if the blood pressure level is tried to maintain with minimum diastolic pressure of 3mm.
The doctors called for attention by the government to inculcate awareness and develop proper strokes units as part of medical steps for welfare of people.
