South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell has announced that he has converted to Islam. He has not decided his Muslim name till now. The left armer said that he converted into Islam in January 2011. “I converted to Islam in January 2011, after a period of personal study and reflection and it is a faith that I have always been interested in,” Parnell said in a statement. He further said “My faith choice is a matter which I would like to keep private.”
Parnell added that he will “continue to respect the team’s endorsement of alcoholic beverages.” South African batsman Hashim Amla who is a devoted Muslim does not wear the team official logo shirt because it is sponsored by alcoholic beverage Castle Lager.
Parnell who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Friday as a Muslim is cuurently playing in England for Sussex county. He is the second Christian to have reverted to Islam after Pakistan’s Yousuf Youhana (now Mohammad Yousuf) in 2006.

this is really good news for all of us. this shows that even after the propaganda of west against Islam, non muslims are still embarasing Islam. This adds the confidence in Muslim youth. Proud to be Muslim !
