Recently the Sindh High Court Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar directed the members and staff of the Sindh High Court Bar Association to wear their membership and office cards while going to work because of recent threats identified by intelligence agencies indicating the possibility of terrorists entering the Sindh High Court disguised as lawyers.
The lawmaking agencies have been on the target list of terrorists in recent times who seek to disturb the justice system of Pakistan. However many lawyers have been annoyed by this directive and have refused to wear their membership cards. This group of lawyers gathered at the bar room and recorded a protest in defiance of the orders of the Sind High Court Chief Justice.
One of the lawyers, Advocate Sohail Hameed also filed a petition against the order which was later withdrawn. The SHCBA refused to take responsibility of the actions of these lawyers saying that the association had nothing to do with the protests. SHCBA president Z.K. Jatoi urged these lawyers to stop protesting and accept the orders which were given for their own safety.
The lawyers who wish to get their Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) Cards can get them from the Sindh High Court building situated in Saddar or at sindhhighcourt.gov.pk/contact_us.
