Islamabad: Bad Weather is continuously damaging the prospect of rescue operation efforts the search operation of 135 people including 11 civilians and 124 Army personal including 4 Officers and 120 Soldiers. A team of US experts has also arrived in Islamabad two days before but because of the weather interruption no flights are currently going on to Skardu accompanying US specialist team from Germany and Switzerland have arrived as well with latest state of the art technology.
However certain degrees of radius have been marked for digging. COAS General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani is present in the Gyari region and heading the rescue operation by himself. Many of the experts said that there is little chance of finding any survivors in the place at an altitude of around 4,000 meters.
Where as the condition is very harsh there but the military is keeping up its motivation high with the ground force of 452 people equipped with mechanical earth movers, bulldozers, excavators and other heavy machines.
Five crucial places have been marked where the digging is taking place. They missing one includes highest rank of Lieutenant colonel, a major and captain. President of Alpine Club of Pakistan Mr. Manzoor Hussain said that the Army camp was hit by a chunk of glacier that split from the main mass.
Col (R) Sher Khan an expert in mountaineering said that the camp might have been hit by a landslide rather an avalanche and further added that the temperature would have become hardened under the mass of snow.
According to Met office expert rain and snowfall is expected in the region for about next two days and in the near areas of Siachen due which the expert’s team from foreign countries couldn’t reach the site.
