The relegation scare in the last season of first class cricket’s ‘President’s Trophy’ in Pakistan has forced the management of State Bank of Pakistan cricket team to secure the services of famous fast bowler Mr. Shoaib Akhtar for the next season in the capacity of head coach. Shoaib Akhtar who has yet no experience of coaching, is deemed to be the right person who can lift the team of SBP to great heights according to the team manager Zaheer-ul-Hasan.
Shoaib Akhtar, who has played 46 test and 163 ODIs while representing the national team is very keen to make his mark as a coach. His confirmation to become the coach is hinged upon the approval and clearance by bank’s sports committee, said the manager. Mr. Zaheer also revealed that the SBP is also in talks with SNGPL head coach former international batsman, Mr Basit Ali as a back-up plan if the negotiations with Shoaib Akhtar fails or doesn’t get approval of the committee. He further enlightened that under the tutelage of Basit Ali, SNGPL has become a strong force in domestic circuit and as a result has won 2 President’s Trophies in the previous seasons.
He further detailed the plan to recruit new players in the side including Zulqarnain Haider, U-19 Al-Rounder Kamran Ghulam and Pacer Mir Hamza, Haris Sohail and most interestingly Muhammaad Amir for the next season as soon his ban becomes lifted by ICC in 2015.
