Mian Shehbaz Sharif is a prominent Pakistani politician and a public figure who has regained his stature in the regime of his brother, Nawaz Sharif who is the current prime minister of Punjab, Pakistan. He is the Chief Minister of Pakistan and has served in this designation for a very long time as he has held the same office twice before 1997 til 1999 and 2008 till 2013.
Shehbaz Sharif is serving as the second person in charge of the party and presides over its provincial chapter of Punjab. He was elected to the provincial assembly of Punjab in the 1988 elections and the National Assembly in 1990. He was named as the leader of the opposition in the house when Manzoor Wattoo was the chief minister of Punjab.
Shehbaz Sharif was elected again as the leader of the house after his election to the Punjab Assembly in 1993 and was elected for the third time in 1997 to the Punjab Assembly. He was elected as the president of PML (N) on 3rd August 2002 while in exile in Saudi Arabia. He was re-elected President of PML (N) for the second term on 2nd August 2006.
