Islamabad: Member of National Assembly and member of Pakistan Peoples Party, Shazia Marri has asked the Speaker of National Assembly to ban smoking in the Parliament. According to the reports of media, during a recent session of National Assembly, Shazia Marri has asked the attention of the Speaker on the issue of smoking within the premises of the Parliament House. While sharing her views on the point of order in the National Assembly, Shazia Marri asked the attention of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on this issue and demands to strictly impose ban on smoking in the premises of the Parliament.
Shazia Marri said that smoking is prohibited at all the public places but when the law makers are violating rules and regulation in the Parliament House then how is it possible to implement this in the while country.
“For God’s sake Mr Speaker have mercy on the health of non-smokers inside the parliament house.” Shazia Marri requested Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
On the demand of imposing ban on smoking in the Parliament House from the Speakers, most of the parliamentarians present in the session have appreciated her.
It is to be noted that under Section 5 of the Tobacco Control Law which was made in 2002, smoking is banned at all the public places but all the Government from that time have not seriously pay attention on this issue.
