Shalimar Garden was built during Mughal Era, that’s why it reflects magnificent era of Mughal Empire. People prefer this garden because of its beauty. It has become one of the most famous tourist destinations.
Shalimar Garden is one of the renowned places of Lahore city.
You can enjoy such a beautiful Mughal garden just at Rs. 5/- per child and Rs. 10/- per adult. While, foreigners can visit the garden for Rs. 200/-.
The biggest attraction of Shalimar Garden is its design and layout. Its design shows the wonderful mughal work. Another big attraction are the fountains which are spread in all over garden. It has a total number of 410 fountains. Unfortunately, none of the fountain is in working condition.
Fountains are fitted in pools which are made from marbles. During Mughal Era there was no electricity but somehow the engineers of that time designed fountains that they were operating without electricity.
The garden has beautiful flower beds which attracts most of the visitors towards them. Other than that you can find some fruit trees which have also developed most of its attraction such as: Almond, Peach, Apple, Plum, Mango, Pomegranate, etc. These trees and flowers keeps the garden fresh and pleasant.

As the garden was built for the Mughals that’s why it has various pavilions which were used by the Mughals for different activities. Here is the list of Pavilions situated in garden:
- Sawan Bhadun Pavilions
- Arambagh used as a resting place
- Naqqar Khana used as a drum house
- Khawabghah of Begum Sahib (Emperor’s Wife)
- Hammam used as a bath
- Baradaries used as a summer pavilion
- The Aiwan
All of these pavilions reflects the great Mughal work.
Location & Timing:
Shalimar Garden is situated at the most famous G.T Road of Lahore. The garden is opened 7 days a week for public. You can visit the garden at any time in between 05:00 AM to 07:00 PM.
