Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took part in Orange Line Train second test run on Wednesday 16th May, 2018.
The 11km test run was done from Dera Gujran to Lakshmi Chowk, in which CM Shahbaz Sharif was accompanied by his advisor Khawaja Ahmed Ehsan, Chief Engineer LDA Mazhar Hussain Khan and other project officials.

Orange Line Metro Train project was delayed for 22 months due to the stay order. Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan gave green signal to Orange Line Metro Train after 22 months to resume the work and first successful test run was done within 2 months. #OLMT #MetroTrainChalayGi pic.twitter.com/tU5A0Pjy2M

The project was scheduled to complete by 2018 but due to stay order from Supreme Court the project was delayed for many months. Now it is expected to be operational by October 2019.

The Orange Line Train Project is a 27 km project with 26 stations out of which 24 are elevated and 2 are underground. With a capacity of 250,000 passengers per day it is expected to solve the transport and traffic issue in the provincial capital.
It is the first rapid transport system in Pakistan which will become a economical, comfortable and fast mode of transport.
