In Pakistan Shab e Barat will be observed in the night of 1st May while the next day, 2nd May, 2018 will be a public holiday. According to Islamic calendar Shab-e-barat is observed on 15th Shaban which starts after sunset of 1st May.
This day is celebrated in Muslim word as a holy day when people stay in mosques whole night reciting Holy Quran, offering nawafil prayers and making dua.
In many mosques and areas people will organize sermons and mehfil milaad in which the teaching of Prophet (PBUH) will be reminded.
But the public holiday will be only for schools, colleges and education institutes while most offices will remain open. 1st May, Labour Day will also be a public holiday in Pakistan when all offices, factories and educational institutes.

Shab e barat is also called Nisf Shaban as it falls in the mid of Shaban. Many take it as a day to prepare for the holy month of Ramazan when Muslim fast during the day and pray during nights.
