Many shop owners charge different amount from different customers depending on the bargaining power and market knowledge of the customer.
Sheikh Salish received a question from a Muslim store owner who asked whether it is permissible to sell the same object at different prices to different customers or not.
Sheikh responded that it’s a norm in market that the price of a product may vary, but the variation should not be major such as that it will become a major loss for the customer.
And if the seller uses the naivety of the customer to charge him extra then it is cheating and deception. For example the average price of a product is Rs. 5,000 and the customer is charged Rs. 7,000 then it will be considered deception because if the customer knew that the worth of the product was Rs. 5000 he would have never agreed to pay Rs. 7,000.
