Nur Fatma was escaping from brutal oppression of Myanmar army with her nine month old child Saiful Rahman when their boat was upended by a huge wave.
“I grapped the edge of boat with one hand and grapped Saiful Rahman with my other hand, because of huge waves we went under water 4 times and I saw bubbles coming out from my son’s mouth” Nur Fatma cried while narrating the story of how she saw her child die.
She is not the first Rohingya victim of Myanmar’s brutal oppression, in the past few weeks more than half million people have crossed into Bangladesh to protect their lives. Hundreds were killed while trying to escape while dozens have drowned in the Naf river which works as a natural border between Myanmar & Bangladesh.
The army, police & local buddhists torched Rohingya villages and killed at least 3000 muslims in few weeks. Guardian reported that in the massacre of Tula Toli village around 1500 people were killed, burnt and then buried in mass graves.
Rohingya are the most prosecuted minority in the world without any rights of citizenship, education or healthcare. Myanmar governments has restricted their movements and have carried out multiple operations against civilian populations in which thousands have been killed and millions have been displaced.
