Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has decided to make Sardar Mehtab Abbasi as a candidate for the Prime Minister’s office, being vacated after the court orders that declared Gilani ineligible for the post, sources informed
According to the sources, PML-N will take other parties in confidence for Sardar Mehtab’s nomination as a candidate for Premiership.
Sardar Mehtab Abbasi is an important political figure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. He won all the elections except in 2002, but was elected Member of the Senate in 2003 after losing his place in the National Assembly.
He became 22nd Chief Minister of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on February 21, 1997 and served in the office till October 12, 1999.
It is to mention here that PPP has shortlisted three of its top party leaders Syed Khursheed Shah, Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar as the candidate for Prime Minister.
