The two most versatile actresses of the Pakistani drama industry will be seen together in a play titled as, ‘Lorilei’ that will be displayed for the audience on 30th and 31st May 2014 at Alhamra. The play is based on a theatre play written by Thomas Wright. Interestingly, Nadia Jamil will be directing Sania Saeed in the Urdu version of the play, while Sania Saeed will direct Nadia Jamil in the English version of the play.
The Olomopolo theatre production and Justice Project Pakistan will handle the technical production of the play. The play has been used as a tool for political change and activism against the cruelty of death penalty. This play will be part of a campaign launched by the Justice project.
The play revolves around the strength of a mother, who has to suffer the anguish of losing her six year old son, who has been murdered by Ricky Langley, who is sentenced to death. The story shows the gradual progress of a mother towards forgiveness and patience and is able o gain strength and deal with the tremendous loss.
The play is a unique venture, as according to Nadia Jamil, it has given them the opportunity to observe each other’s performance as actors through their roles in Lorilei. It has given them a way to critically analyse each other’s flaws and use each other’s strengths. Sania Saeed expressed her willingness to take this play to other cities as well and to give the people to experience and then give their views on it.
