As the first month of Islamic month begins every year, the Muslim countries of sub continent especially observed ongoing observations regarding the great sacrifice of the Hazrat Imam Hussain and the whole family of the Prophet for the cause of Islam. The series of events are observed every year elaborating the great sacrifice.
The sacrifice of the family of the Prophet was against the tyranny and illegitimate government of Yazeed. As far as the caliphate was there before Yazeed things were going normal despite of differences and conflicts but when Yazeed wrongfully established his government, the Prophet’s family under the leadership of Imam Hussain invited by the people of Koofa marched against the tyrants of that time. The demand of Hazrat Hussain was right, and peaceful. The Yazeed army filled with malice, power to rule and contempt martyred all the dominant Sahabas and only few were left.
There are various sabeel e masumeen and sabeel e sakina arranged throughout Pakistan against the malicious attempt of Yazeed’s army who blocked the supply of water to the family of the Prophet (Ahl e Bait).
The Shia school of thought is more active in observing these events. In Muharram Shia school of thought is pioneer of arranging and observing different events like sabeel e masoomeen, Nohay, Azadari, Majlis, Muharram Juloos, Muharram gatherings, muharram majlis or majalis (Muharrum jaloos), and so on. All these events are focused in explaining the reality of the sacrifice and the message of truth.
Some nohay start with “Ya Hassan Ya Hussain”, “Mola Hussain”, “hussain ya Hussain”, “Azadari” or similar lyrics. Big majority of people from Shia school of thought are fond of listening these nohay. Ali Zia noha “Abbas pani lao”, Qaiser Shah’s noha are some of the nohay that are played commonly in sabeel e masumeen.
Hussainiat has now become a philosophy, a concept of life to live for truth and to sacrifice life for the truth. Hussainiat is echoing hrough out the world these days, but the true essence of hussainiat is still not followed, the true concept of hussainiat is to raise the voice of truth against the evil. But today we see the world filled with evil and suppression, but there is no one working on the principle of hussainiat, therefore those groups who are raising their voice for truth peacefully and against the brutality of US through out the world are somehow related to the concept of hussainiat. Although the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain is globally recongnized as a great sacrifice for the truth. The poet of the east Allama Iqbal also idealized Hazrat Imam Hussain in his struggle to crush the false and the revival of islam. Allama Iqbal beautifully expressed his feelings as:
“The assassination of Hussain is in reality the death of Yazeed
Islam revives after the happening of every “KARBALA”.”
