ANKARA: The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been shocked in the recent polls and his party “Justice & Development Party” for the first in last thirteen years have lost majority in parliament. It is pertinent to mention here that Erdogan became the Prime Minister of Turkey in 2003 whereas he was elected as the president.
Tayyip Erdogan was aspired to the implementation of presidential system in Turkey and he needed two-thirds majority but he faced disappointment due to the results of the polls. Turkish people concerned over the wish of Erdogan to get powers more and more due to which he got the results of the polls contrary to expectation.
According to details, to get majority in Turkish parliament, there is a need of 276 seats but Justice & Development could only get 258 seats. Hence, the ruling party would have to ally with other party in order to maintain its powers.
