Pakistan was established on 14th August 1947. Before that, British ruled on sub-continent. After 100 years of British rule, Muslims and Hindus realized to fight for their right and to get a separate state and together they formed a political party “Indian National Congress”. Soon, after Muslims realized that Hindus who were in majority could never give the equal right to Muslims who were in minority, so they formed a separate political party “All-Indian Muslim League” to drive the British out of India. It was very hard to realize the British about the demands of Muslims. A very long hard struggle followed. Not only the men take part but also women play a bold role in the struggle for Pakistan.
Women was at time was in strict purdah, was also less educated and was not fully aware about the politics but a number of great women who came forward and help the Muslim women to work for independence.
*Miss Fatima Jinnah who was the sister of Quaid-e-Azam, through her the Muslim women were able to seek the Quaid’s guidance. She looked after her illustrious brother and nation called her Madr-i-Millat means Mother of the nation.
*Abadi-Begum who was known as Bi-Amman. She was very brave and courageous woman. She was the mother of Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar and Maulana Shaukat Ali. She encouraged her sons a lot. When these two brothers were arrested and was imprisoned for two years and were brought to trial, she sent a word to them: “Not give up your cause and not to ask for pardon” which was the condition of their release.
*Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan who was the typist and honorary secretary to her husband Liaquat Ali Khan. At that time when the Muslim League could not afford the salary of a secretary. She arranged many parties and huge gathering where the Muslim women could meet the wives and daughters of Viceroys to explain them their side of protest. She also organized Women’s Voluntary Service.
*Begum Jahan Ara Shahnawaz represented the Muslim women at three round table conference held in London was the first woman to make a speech.
A number of brave women took part in the struggle and became succeed in their efforts. They played an active and bolt role. They show their whole efforts and stood like a rock against their enemies.
