Pakistan produces 7 million tons of rice which is widely consumed by local market and around 40% is exported to foreign markets. But do you know that some researchers have linked it with cancer?
[junkie-alert style=”green”] It has been found that rice may contain the traces of pesticides that are harmful for human health. The field where pesticides are used may also contaminate your rice. [/junkie-alert]
Researchers have found that in many cases the levels of pesticides were quite dangerous for children. But it was also sad that if the rice is properly washed and cooked then 85% of the harmful substances can be removed.
Andy Meharg, professor at Queens University in BelfastĀ has said that rice gets 10 times more contaminated in the same field where other things are grown.
Even if the rice is not contaminated it still lacks the nutrients needed for human body, while wheat is rich in required nutrients and should be preferred.
