The Nitaqat System which is going to be implemented in by the Saudi government will limit the number and stay of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia. This law is to boost the local citizens and create more job opportunities with higher salaries for them, according to Saudi labor ministry. In this system a foreign worker can stay for maximum 8 years in the kingdom.
There will also be a point gaining process in the new Nitaqat system in which maximum point that a foreigner can gain is 3 after which he have to leave the country. This point gaining depends on work, salary and family of foreign workers.
In this point gaining if a foreigner is staying in the kingdom with his wife and two children will be seen as two foreign workers living in the kingdom. If a worker is living only with his wife he has gained 1.5 point and a quarter points per child, Arab news reported.
If a worker has completed four years has gained 1.5 points, for five years 2 points for six years 2.5 points and for seven years 3 point till he gets his work permit. While a person who is earning 6,000 Saudi Riyal has gained 1.5 points.
This law was however opposed by many Saudi business men and foreign people. It will create problems for many Saudi low workers and even foreign investors will also not invest in the country, said Ibrahim Badawood, a managing director of ALJ Community Initiatives.
