Islamabad: Former President and Chairman of Pakistan People Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari in his statement, has urged the local people to restrict their support to those who exploit religion. To him such are the people who use religious statements to achieve their ulterior political motives.
Zardari said that Iqbal was not only a poet, a philosopher, but a true advocate of Islamic knowledge. He disseminated the essence and message of Islam. He shall not be remembered for his intellectual thoughts and writing pieces only, but his vivid vision of separate Muslim homeland is distinctive to acknowledge his services.
These words were spoken by the PPP leader on the occasion of Iqbal’s 136th death anniversary observed last week on Saturday across the country. Released statement by the political party quotes him saying that the extremists attempt to distort the country’s peace on the name of religion. Such words are nothing but ways of fostering the political ends, opined the leader.
It is pertinent here to mention that earlier Maulana Fazl Rehman of JUI –F had given statement calling dog a martyr if killed by the Americans while the JI Chief Munwar Hasan’s statement calling TTP as martyrs has stirred much controversy over the political figures.
Various people have protested and demanded apologize and penalty from the two men, who stating anti-religion words have defamed ‘Islam’.
