KARACHI: A rescue operation is continued with the help of Pak-Navy helicopter in order to take out the corpses of drowned men at Sea View Karachi. 19 corpses have been taken out yet since last day. It is pertinent to mention here that over one and a half dozen persons were drowned in sea while they were enjoying at Sea View. The corpses which have been found yet, have been handed over to their families.
According to sources, the government of Sindh has imposed ban to go into sea in order to enjoy or swim in accordance with the clause 144 but when the incident happened, no rescue workers or no official of law enforcement agencies were there at the site.
On the other hand, DIG South Abdul Khaliq has said that he has not received any notification concerning the ban on swimming into the sea. Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui has said that it is difficult to stop people to swim into the sea despite the ban because the seashore is too long and it is difficult to keep eyes on the whole seashore.
After the incident, all the routes leading to Sea View have been blocked as Sindh Chief Minister and the city administration have taken notice of the incident whereas additional contingents of the police reached at the site and baton-charged in order to disperse the people who gathered at the site. The report of the 23 drowned men has been lodged in Boat Basin police station Karachi.
