Rawalpindi: A women-only transport service named “Tabeer” has been launched recently between Islamabad and Rawalpindi with the specific aim to provide comfortable, safe and cost effective transportation to the women travelling between the sisters cities of the country. This service is an outcome of collaboration of a private cellular company, Zong and Regional Transport Authority.
At the inauguration of the service, provincial Minister for Labour and human rights, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, members of PML (N), regional administration, secretary of district transport authority and representatives of the cellular company were present.

Moreover he stated that due to the service it will become far easier for the women to get to their destinations without any discomfort. He also congratulated the collaborators on the occasion. Meanwhile MNA Malik Abrar Ahmed declared the program as an example of welfare for the women and conveyed that women specially students and working ladies would benefit from the service and will feel secure while travelling.
He further pledged that after the success of this pilot program, transportation services of similar kind would be launched in other parts of the province specifically for women.
He said that the women will be the hostesses for the transportation vehicles and in case of any inconvenience their complaints will be resolved on urgent basis. It was further informed that the vehicles will not be older and only models after 2008 will be used in the program.
CEO of Zong Mr. Sikandar Naqvi specified the details and told that the service comprises of 12 vehicles and will run from 7 AM to 7 PM.
