Rawalpindi: A general body meeting headed by the President of the District Bar Association (DBA) , Sajid Ilyas held today at the Jinnah Hall announced the imposition of ban on the former President of Supreme Court Bar Association Asma Jehangir and advocate Fawad Chaudhary over the use of hot words by them against the other advocates .
The lawyers expressed solidarity with the Chief Justice’s decision.The District Bar association (DBA) representatives termed the decision historical.They said that the Judicial Court by passing the decision based on merit has proved the prevalence of justice in the country. Decision taken by the court would facilitate and strengthen democracy and the advocates party would continue their struggle in maintaining the law and constitution in the country, they further said.
Various speakers, including Taufeeq Asif, Taskeen Abbasi, Raja Asif, Raja Shahzad, Zulqarnain, Malik Altaf and others spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile,the advocates heavily criticised barrister Aitzaz Ahsan and the PPP government.They said that controversies are being hatched against the advocates while the government continues to safeguard its interests.The lawyers also condemned the attitude of attorney generals over the very serious issues. They also demanded the Public Accounts Committee to hold former Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani accountable for his expenditures after 26 April.
By the end of the meeting, sweets were distributed among the members in the hall.
