Early Life:

Rana Sanaullah was born in Faisalabad on January 1, 1950. His father Sher Muhammad Khan is a known man who is from a Rajput family.

After completing school he joined Government College Faisalabad where he did his Bachelors in commerce. Then he shifted to Lahore and completed his LLB from Punjab Law College, Lahore. This was start of his career as a lawyer.

Political Career:

Rana Sanaullah Khan started his political career from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in his hometown Faisalabad. In the general elections of 1990 he started his provincial career as a candidate of Punjab Assembly.

But his affiliation with PPP was short lived and he joined Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) in 1993 and was elected as MPA in general elections of 1997.

After that he participated in many elections and became a prominent a leading figure of PMLN. In 2018 General elections he decided to participate for the National Assembly and become an MNA for the first time from constituency NA-106 (Faisalabad-VI).

During his political career he was arrested multiple times including during the dictatorship of General Musharraf. He narrated that when he planned to organize against the military coup he was arrested and tortured.

He is accused by opponents for being the culprit behind the raid on Minhaj-ul-Quran International’s Lahore secretariat on June 17, 2014. In which many innocent people including women lost their lives.

His statement that police action was justified to maintain law and order resulted in backlash. Many allege that he as the Law minister was involved in the killings.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif removed him from ministry to calm people but political opponents demanded the resignation of the CM. An FIR was also lodged against CM Punjab & Rana Sanaullah for being the key figures in the killings.

His political career also includes controversies including his opinions on religious matters such as declaring Qadiyanis as Muslims and declaring Babar Awan as Wajibul due to corruption charges. In one TV Show he lashed out his opponent Sheikh Rasheed.

Details about his personal family such as wife, sons, daughters and siblings are not known.
