Hollywood movie ‘Railway Man’ is set to be released in cinemas across Pakistan on 11th April. The movie will also be careened in Cineplex, Cinepax and Nueplex as well. The movie is a direction of Jonathan Teplitzky and is an adaptation of a bestseller autobiography by the same name of the author Eric Lomax. The movie stars Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Hiroyuki Sanada and Jeremy Irvine. This is a war based movie produced by Chris Brown, Bill Curbishley and Andy Paterson.
The story revolves around Eric Lomax who is a British soldier during the World War II. He is taken captive by the Japanese in Singapore and is sent to the POW camp. In this camp he is forced to work on a Thai-Burma railway. During his stay at this camp, he has to suffer torture at the hands of his captors primarily for building a radio.
After some years after his release, Eric is still tormented by the memories of his captivity and has to suffer psychological trauma. He then decides to locate and confront one of his captors with the help of his wife Patti (Kidman) and friend Finlay (Skarsgard). After tracking down a Japanese officer Takashi Nagase (Sanada), he returns back to his torture scene.
The movie has received mixed reviews with a 73% rating and will be a historical experience of the crimes of World War II.
